Our Story

Mushinkan is a sanctuary for individuals seeking to improve their body, mind, and soul through the study of martial arts.

Founded in 1965 by Kaisou Francis Ramasamy—a Judo and Kendo extraordinaire trained under Gozo Shioda, the founder of Yoshinkan Aikido—Mushinkan was established as a place to bring the essence of Japanese martial arts to Malaysia and beyond. Today, his legacy continues through Sensei Franky, who has carried forward this vision with passion.

MEET SENSEI:

Born into martial arts family, where the dojo was Sensei Franky's home - Sensei began training at just 3 years old under the guidance of his father, Kaisou Ramasamy. Now, he has spent nearly four decades refining his craft and sharing his knowledge. Sensei’s leadership is rooted in his belief in inclusivity and his passion for helping every student realize their potential. Mushinkan continues its legacy of discipline, harmony, and mindfulness.

MUSHINKAN'S PROGRAMS:

The dojo offers three distinct disciplines:

• Aikido: The art of harmony and fluid movement.

• Mushinryu: A modern approach to Kenjutsu (swordsmanship) focused on precision and control.

• Mushindo: A meditative art that cultivates mindfulness and spiritual growth.​

Located in the vibrant heart of Pulau Tikus, Mushinkan remains humble and strong, with a close-knit community in the northern region. The dojo actively participates in cultural and charitable activities, including collaborations with the Penang Consulate of Japan, to honor its founder’s vision of promoting Japanese culture and discipline.

At Mushinkan, we seek to cultivate deserving students—those who approach martial arts with respect, humility, and the desire to grow ethically and peacefully.
