Yamato-Kan came home in 2021
Wow, it has been almost two months since I've last written, A new year has dawned upon us and I am a year older. Well, I do hope you all were waiting because I have a story for you all!
With the borders reopening again and the new year has just begun. I want to look back on one of the recent memories of Mushinkan academy. It was when Yamato-Kan took the initiative to travel down to Penang for a joint-training class on a relaxing Sunday.
New and Old Faces
Since it has been almost a year plus since Yamato-kan has visited the Mushinkan Dojo not much has changed. But what was new to our fellow dojokas at the Mushinkan dojo was a new student of Yamatokan that just joined fairly recently.

With Nicodemus's first introduction to the Mushinkan Academy members, we were all ecstatic to meet him for the 1st time. The moment in getting acquainted with our new brethren was eeeeeeeeeeasy but alas this was just the beginning of the intensive class!
The Coming Trials Part 1!!!
All was going according to plan starting out slow and with the basic etiquette of handling a bokuto/bokken with a sageyo. The next lesson was a bit trickier which was all about the basic Mushin-Ryu kata.
There were many interesting variations and interpretations of the kata from Yamatokan. I would love to show you guys here but I must apologize that I didn't record this part of the session. However, from my memory sensei and the Mushinkan dojo members helped to refine the katas for the Yamatokan students.
At this point after the kata training, we had our lunch which was a big feast of the Mushinkan Academy's go-to fast-food franchise KFC, it was definitely finger-licking good especially eating it together as a family. Such good times bonding just made us even closer by just a simple act of eating.

As the heading suggests yes I have recorded some part of this training and oh boy it was worth it for the memories!
Well, we started off with the Mushinkan classic which is Cardboard cutting. What is it? I'm glad you've asked because I got videos for it. So the 1st person that was selected to start was Anthony. It was his 1st time cutting cardboard with an iaito.
The 2nd person in line was his Senpai Charles.
As they were cutting static cardboards Sensei decided to up the ante of the training, cutting cardboard being thrown.

End of the Day
After all of the blood, sweat, and tears of training hard and learning we it was just the perfect time to have a final dinner feast before we sent Yamato-kan off to their hometown of Tapah, Perak.
Though we missed them I'm happy to have trained with them even though our time was short. Though hopefully, we will have more joint training this year :D
